Dear Parishioners and Friends,

It is really exciting to know that Sacred Heart Church, Lawrenceburg, is celebrating its 125th Jubilee in May of 2012! This is a great occasion and a great necessity that we all should come together to thank God and to re-dedicate ourselves to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

 

Sacred Heart Parish is the spiritual home for over 300 families. In my brief time as your pastor, I have come to know that this parish is a community firmly grounded in the Catholic faith and deeply committed to our Catholic tradition.

 

Our fundamental mission as a parish family is to lead all people to the Lord by celebrating the sacraments, educating our people in the truths of our faith and providing for those with physical, emotional and spiritual needs. With this purpose in mind, our parish offers many ministries and programs which serve many people. While we continue to do this, we know that our facilities also have to be maintained and kept updated, as many of our parishioners have repeatedly commented.

In response, a preparation process was conducted last year, through which many of you expressed your readiness and willingness to begin a capital campaign program to update our facilities, with new Heating and A/C for our school and the church, and with new windows and new roofing for our school. Over the years we have been doing a lot of quick fix remedies for these serious problems, and now that we have decided to replace them, let us come together to raise the necessary funds that we need for these projects.

 

The success of this endeavor depends on the parish having the financial resources to bring our plans to fruition. My request is that each parishioner make time to learn about this project and my prayer is that every member of our parish will become part of this project “Securing our Heritage” campaign. Your gifts to the Church are personal but ultimately gifts to God—a response of your faith and a gift of love for all that the Lord has done for you.

 

Please ask Our Lord to direct you in your generosity and do what you can until this project is completed and make this campaign a great success. Through your prayers, support, and financial commitment, joins yourself to all those parishioners–past and present, who by their sacrifices and efforts are part of the heritage of faith that has made Sacred Heart Parish such a strong Catholic Community in Lawrence County for 125 years.

 

Please pray to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and through the intercession of Mary, our blessed Mother, and St. Joseph, that God may guide and direct our efforts in this Capital Campaign to serve the needs of all our families of our Parish–present and for the future. May God bless you abundantly for your generosity.

Our Heritage is one of love, dedication, sacrifice and blessings. From humble beginnings, our forefathers laid the groundwork from which future generations have built upon. 1869-1870 Fr. Henry Hueser said his first Mass in a two-story brick house on Fain Court. A small house at the intersection of Buffalo Road and Groh Street was converted into "St. Joseph's church."

 

The German Catholic Homestead Society deeded 5 acres for parish use and 5 acres for a parish cemetery. The property was bounded by Berger Street, Kramer Avenue, Groh Street, .....(to read more click the link below)
